Low Income Taxpayer Clinic Update

The Pepperdine Low Income Taxpayer Clinic has been remote since March of 2020. We are in our third season (Spring, Summer and Fall) working remotely and the students are doing an amazing job. We serve indigent clients. Adding an additional layer of stress with Covid has made life harder on our clients. However, the students in our clinic have been resilient and haven't let Covid stop them from helping people. We pivoted from an in-person infrastructure, to a remote system that allows us to continue serving our clients.

The PLITC and the students have done an excellent job representing clients. During quarantine our students have litigated cases, represented clients before various IRS agents, handled audits and exams, helped clients with collection issues and helped clients get tax compliant. Pepperdine will continue to help students reach their full potential and at the same time serve their community. It's a win win situation for everyone.

Professor Isai Cortez directs the Low Income Taxpayer Clinic and supervises students' work.
