Lisa Russell (JD ‘20) Faces Health Crisis with Help of Pepperdine Caruso Law Community
Pepperdine Caruso Law alumna Lisa Russell (JD '20) is a post-bar law clerk with the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office. After graduating and passing the bar exam, Lisa took the oath as a licensed attorney and found herself one step closer to her long-term goal of becoming a Los Angeles County Deputy Attorney.
Lisa was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer that has metastasized to her bones, pelvis, lungs, and liver. Despite the devastating diagnosis, Lisa has met this challenge with the same grace and positivity that is a hallmark of her personality. She is continuing to work full-time as she battles this formidable disease.
Lisa's future prognosis and medical expenses are uncertain. In response, Mark Hiepler (JD '88) of Hiepler & Hiepler, Chair of the Board of Advisors at Pepperdine Caruso Law, began representing Lisa Russell on a volunteer basis starting on April 23, 2021, when he was made aware of Lisa's need.
Lisa wants the Caruso Law community to know "I am so humbled and thankful for everyone's help. Despite my devastating news, I am nothing but blessed and I know God has my back as always."
A GoFundMe account has been established to help with Lisa's expenses and a Meal Train has been set up by her classmates.
