Professor Chris Goodman Receives Distinguished Faculty Award from Pepperdine's Center for Women in Leadership

April 27, 2018 | Supporting women is not only part of our collective history at Pepperdine, it is integral to our values and our university mission to prepare all students for lives of purpose, service, and leadership. On April 13, Professor Christine Chambers Goodman was recognized by the Center for Women in Leadership as the first female faculty member to receive the Distinguished Faculty Award for the important work she does in the School of Law as advisor to the Pepperdine Women's Legal Association. The award was presented by 3L Jenna King at a luncheon honoring the faculty leaders and mentors who support the development of our women student leaders.

Dr. Bernice Ledbetter, director of the Center, said, "Thank you, Chris, for your exemplary leadership. This award is one way for our students and the Center for Women in Leadership to express our admiration and gratitude for the many ways you exemplify our University goal to prepare our students to live lives of purpose, service and leadership.

Speaking to the undergraduate and graduate female student leaders in attendance from all five schools, Professor Goodman closed her acceptance speech with these words of advice: "O.W.L. Observe, Wonder, and Learn to Lead!"

The Pepperdine Center for Women in Leadership (CWL) focuses on building your confidence and instilling the strongest sense of competency and readiness for the challenges and rewards of leadership. Through mentorship programs, industry engagement, and research on gender diversity, Pepperdine contributes to an ongoing dialogue about women in leadership all around the world.
