Dennis Watkins (JD '78) Named to East Region Advisory Board at Southern Heritage Bank

December 11, 2018 | Pepperdine Law alumnus Dennis W. Watkins (JD '78), Legal Counsel for Church of God in Cleveland, has been elected to the East Region Advisory Board for Southern Heritage Bank. Lee Stewart, East Region President, made the announcement saying, "We are very excited to have Dennis join our advisory board. He will be a real asset due to his extensive business and legal acumen. The Church of God International Headquarters located here in Cleveland has a significant impact to both the local and economic and spiritual environment."

Watkins received his undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Central Washington University, Ellensburg, WA, where he graduated with the highest distinction. He received his law degree from Pepperdine University in 1978 and is a member of the Mississippi State Bar. Mr. Watkins maintained a private law practice in Jackson, MS for over fifteen years. His practice included the general practice of law focusing primarily on business, commercial, and litigation practice.

Representative clients included governmental, insurance, and business clients. In July 1995, Watkind was admitted to the Tennessee State Bar. He served as Legal Counsel for Church of God in Cleveland since 1994.

He is a member of Mount Olive Church of God, where he serves as a Deacon and as Chairman of the Usher Committee.

Watkins and his wife, Carol, have three children: Jaclyn, Jillian, and Channing.
