Pepperdine Caruso Law alumnus David Hebert (JD' 82) has co-authored the commentary, "One health fix: Expand nurse practitioners" with former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle, which is published in the Philadelphia Inquirer. Herbert is CEO of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). The article considers giving nurse practitioners full practice authority in primary care.

Not surprising, state with restricted practice laws have 40% fewer NPs than states will full practice authority. By contrast, states with modernized licensure laws have recorded growth in the number of NPs joining the profession as well as the number of NPs working in rural and underserved areas.
