Brent Daub (JD '02) Receives Doctorate of Education in Interdisciplinary Leadership
Pepperdine Caruso Law alumnus Brent Daub (JD '02) and senior partner and founder of Gilson Daub, a leading worker's compensation defense firm, has received his Doctorate of Education in Interdisciplinary Leadership from Creighton University. Since leaving Pepperdine in 2002, Brent has been on a successful path that led to founding Gilson Daub in 2011, which now has 18 offices across eight states and serves some of the largest employers in the country and across the globe.
An avid learner, Brent decided to continue his education in 2016 and conducted his doctoral dissertation research around a qualitative study on managing attorney's, focusing primarily on the factors that influence flexible working in a California law firm – quite remarkably, something his firm has practiced with satellite offices across multiple states and regions well before it became a commonplace model in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. His thesis and dissertation findings are based on four key pillars - Flexible Working Programs, Managing Attorneys, Trust, and Technology.
"Since day one, I've been very intentional about developing and inspiring leadership at Gilson Daub -focusing on delegation to promote efficiency at the firm and in turn instilling strong managerial skills to my team at all levels. This five-year study course has not only been of great personal value to me but will help in effectively leading my team while creating and championing new leaders," said Daub.
Daub lives in San Clemente, California with his wife and children when not traveling coast to coast supporting the firm's impressive growth throughout 2020 and 2021.
