Anthony Depatie (JD '17) Leads as Associate Counsel at PeerStreet
May 24, 2018 | Pepperdine Law alumnus Anthony Depatie (JD '17) is leading PeerStreet, a real estate investing platform located in El Segundo, California, past the $1 billion mark in funded loans. Anthony has been with PeerStreet since joining the company as their first legal intern in 2016. Anthony worked at PeerStreet his entire 3L year at Pepperdine, while also serving as SBA Treasurer. Anthony is now Associate Counsel, where he is responsible for asset management, general real estate finance matters, and legal work related to setting up new loan products.
Anthony attributes much of his success to Pepperdine Law and the Palmer Center:
"What differentiates PeerStreet from other players in the fintech space is that we built - and are growing - a true marketplace for real estate debt. This allows us to streamline the investment process and offer value to multiple parties at both ends of the marketplace.
The best part of working here, other than our awesome company culture, is the fact that we get to build a platform that helps everyone win. We're proving that this space doesn't have to be a zero sum game, because every day we work to offer the best investment products that we can, while also helping lenders improve their operations and grow their business.
My time at Pepperdine Law was instrumental in preparing me for professional success as an attorney. Through the Palmer Center, I was able to take classes that taught me many of the skills that I use on a daily basis. More importantly, the law school's emphasis on values and integrity serves a cornerstone that guides my decision making. I highly recommend that current and future students consider joining the SBA. Taking on leadership roles is a great way to give back to the community and also to grow both personally and professionally."
