Trey Childress Participates on Supreme Court International Law in Review Panel
July 19, 2018 | Professor Donald Earl (Trey) Childress participates today on a panel titled, "U.S. Supreme Court 'International Law' Year in Review," hosted by the American Society on International Law (ASIL), located in Washington D.C. Professor Childress will join former legal advisers to the Department of State, John Bellinger and Harold Koh.
From the American Society on International Law:
ASIL's Dispute Resolution Interest Group is hosting a panel discussion of the decisions from the U.S. Supreme Court's 2017-2018 term involving issues relating to international law and/or international relations. The discussion will include an in-depth look at the reasoning behind the decisions in Jesner v. Arab Bank, PLC; Rubin v. Islamic Republic of Iran; Animal Science Products v. Hebei Welcome Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd.; and Trump v. Hawaii. Our panelists, comprising some of the leading experts on international law issues, will also explore what these decisions tell us about the current Supreme Court's views on matters of international interest, as well as the influence the newly appointed Justice Gorsuch has had on these issues.
