Straus Institute Offers New Advanced Training: MLC 2.0
"This was a fantastic follow-up to MLC. The bespoke nature of the training and the small cohort made this one of the best programs I have attended in 30 years."
The Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution's inaugural MLC 2.0 delivered an exceptional experience for attendees. Held on March 26-27, the two-day advanced program welcomed Mediating the Litigated Case (MLC) alumni and experienced mediators for an immersive training designed to elevate their practice. The program was led by the Straus Institute's new executive director of professional training, Selina Shultz, and professor of law in practice and faculty director, Stephanie Blondell, whose expertise and leadership shaped a dynamic and highly engaging learning environment.
Intentionally limited to 20 participants, MLC 2.0 created a setting where professionals could engage deeply, exchange ideas, and receive personalized coaching. Building on the MLC framework, the program focused on refining advanced mediation techniques, navigating complex dynamics, and strengthening strategic decision-making in litigated disputes. Through dynamic role plays and real-time feedback, participants were able to immediately apply and sharpen their skills.
With a high level of engagement throughout the program, attendees left equipped with practical tools and renewed confidence. "The role plays were conducted in a way that provided instant feedback, which was very beneficial and created better learning," one participant shared. Other participants commented, "I have an entire notepad of notes I plan to revisit-practical tips, general advice, specific pointers...it was all delivered," and "I cannot wait for MLC 3.0! Even after the first day, I was thinking-I wish we had a third day!"
In response to strong demand, the Straus Institute will hold the next MLC 2.0 session, offered as a three-day training, on July 29-31, which will allow for deeper exploration and additional coaching. For professionals ready to begin the Mediating the Litigated case journey, a five-day MLC online program will be held on April 6-10, offering a foundation that continues to define one of the nation's leading mediation training programs.
