Professors Sukhsimranjit Singh and Jack Coe Judge Vis Moot Arbitration Competition in Vienna
Professor Sukhsimranjit Singh, alongside professor Jack Coe, had the privilege of judging the 30th annual Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot competition in Vienna, Austria, held on April 1 - April 6.
The unique competition, designed to foster an interest in, and develop the requisite skill set for, a successful career in the fields of international commercial law and international commercial arbitration, is the most prominent competition of its sort in the fields of international private law and international arbitration. One of the most prestigious international moot court competitions, the Vis moot provides an unparalleled personal and professional experience; students find that their participation in the moot is not only academically enriching, but also a delightful cross-cultural experience before and in Vienna.
This year the dispute arose in the context of an international sale of goods under the Permanent Court of Arbitration Rules of Arbitration, the Vienna Convention on the International Sale of Goods, and the UNIDROIT Principles on International Commercial Contracts. More than 4500 students comprising 350 teams, from 90 nations competed in this momentous event.
