Professor Chris Goodman Presents "Cut the Rhyme, Cut the Time: Reducing Racial Character Evidence, Increasing Remedies" -- AALS Evidence Section

Professor Chris Chambers Goodman presented "Cut the Rhyme, Cut the Time: Reducing Racial Character Evidence, Increasing Remedies" for an AALS Evidence Section panel co-sponsored by the Immigration Law Section, which took place in New Orleans, Louisiana. Professor Goodman discussed some recent revisions to the California evidence code about evidence of rap, lyrics and immigration status being excluded on character grounds. She explained the decor promise of such litigation and analyzed it’s actual impact in practice, along with that of similar legislation in other states nationwide.
