Later this month the Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in Trinity Lutheran v. Comer, a case about how far government can go to keep church and state separate. The high court will consider how to determine whether a law is discriminatory against religious minorities. It will also weigh whether government can without funding for the safety and security of religious institutions. Most important, this case presents a rare opportunity to undo a legacy of antireligious bigotry in many states constitutions.
