2L Andrew Smith attends 2017 GRAMMYS as finalist in the Entertainment Law Initiative Writing Competition
February 15, 2017 | By Alexa Brown —Pepperdine Law 2L Andrew Smith attended the 2017 Grammy Awards as part of his prize as a finalist in the Entertainment Law Initiative (ELI) competition for his submitted paper, "Festival State of Safety: Amending the IDAPA and Preventing Future Drug-Related Deaths at Electronic Music Festivals."
"It was an amazing opportunity to be able to be a part of all the events that took place during GRAMMY weekend," Smith said. "I heard about the writing competition through a lunchtime event sponsored by The Palmer Center and our SELS group, and became enthusiastic about the opportunity. I owe much of my accomplishment to my wonderful professors who have helped me develop my legal writing skills and knowledge of the entertainment industry."
As a finalist, Smith received $1500, one GRAMMY Awards ticket, one ticket to the Entertainment Law Initiative Luncheon, one ticket to MusiCares® Person of the Year dinner, and invites to other GRAMMY related events.
