Capri Maddox (JD '01) Appointed Los Angeles Unified School District Senior Executive Director of Partnerships

July 18, 2018 | Pepperdine Law alumna Capri Maddox (JD '01) has accepted an appointment as the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) Senior Executive Director of Partnerships. Maddox will take a leave of absence from her role as Special Assistant to Los Angeles City Attorney Mike Feuer and Director of the City Attorney Business Support Program.

Superintendent Austin Beutner announced today that Capri Maddox, Esq. will join the District as Senior Executive Director, Partnerships.

Ms. Maddox will work with the Superintendent and the entire District to coordinate partnerships with the philanthropic community, government entities, sports teams, entertainment leaders and community organizations to enhance the educational experience for students in Los Angeles Unified. Ms. Maddox will work in collaboration with Southern California Grantmakers in this effort. Her position is being funded by the Fund for Excellence and Equity, which was recently announced by Los Angeles Unified.

"Capri will help bring together people and resources to better support our students and schools," Superintendent Beutner said. "This effort will improve and expand existing relationships and build new ones to provide more support for public education in Los Angeles."

Prior to this role with L.A. Unified, Maddox served as Special Assistant to City Attorney Mike Feuer and Director of the City Attorney Business Support Program. She previously served as president of the Los Angeles Board of Public Works.

"Capri Maddox has been an integral part of our team for many years and has served as my Special Assistant since the day I took office," Feuer said. "Her countless relationships, her innovative leadership and her collaborative style are a perfect fit for her new role."

"As a Los Angeles Unified graduate and a native Angeleno, I am excited for the opportunity to utilize my relationships and experience and work with local government partners to provide much-needed resources to our schools," said Maddox.

"Los Angeles Unified faces equity gaps that must be improved," said Charisse Bremond Weaver President of the Brotherhood Crusade. "The District needs more resources to help close those gaps. Capri will work to help raise up each student and family in our community."
