Join Pepperdine Law's exciting ten-day study tour to Switzerland and Paris and immerse yourself in the fascinating world of Olympic & International Sports Law and Dispute Resolution!
Taught by Sports Law Professor Maureen Weston and Sports Law Attorney/Arbitrator Jeff Benz, this unique 2 credit course introduces students to the governance structures and legal processes that govern international sports, engage in practical lawyering simulations, and gain firsthand insights from experts in the field of international sports law. Experience exclusive site visits to renowned institutions such as the United Nations, Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), World Anti-Doping Agency, as well as various sport federations in Lausanne. Students will stay at Pepperdine’s Château d'Hauteville, in Vevey, Switzerland.
The tour will culminate in Paris, as the city gears up to host the Summer 2024 Olympic Games. Explore the behind-the-scenes preparations and get a firsthand look at the legal and regulatory aspects of hosting a major international sporting event.
Students are responsible for booking flights into Geneva by Sunday, May 19 and departing from Paris on Wednesday, May 29, 2024. An activity fee to cover accommodations, meals, and other activities is also required. This course will also count towards the Entertainment, Media, and Sports Law Certificate for JD students, as well as the Straus Dispute Resolution Certificate.
