Straus Partners with ADR Brasil in Webinar Series

The Straus Institute partnered with ADR Brasil and Resoluto in a five-part webinar series titled, "Beacons in Dispute Resolution," held throughout May,  June, and early July. The series featured Professors Tom Stipanowich, Sukhsimranjit Singh, and Stephanie Blondell, as well as Straus adjunct faculty members including Professors Marcio Vasconcellos, Diego Faleck, and renowned Judge Andre Gomma. Brazillian practitioners and experts also joined the webinar series that focused on alternative dispute resolution practices and marketability in South America and on a global scale.

The first webinar focused on new technologies in the mediation world and featured Professor Vasconcellos; it was moderated by Straus LLM alumnus Ricardo Barcellos. The second webinar focused on the alternative dispute resolution market in Brazil and featured Judge Gomma; it was moderated by Straus alums Eduardo Fontoura and Marcelo Rosadilla, who also serves as Associate Director for the Straus Institute.

Professors Blondell and Faleck spoke in the third webinar, "Mediating Complex Cases," which was moderated by Professor Vasconcellos. Professor Stipanowich discussed "New Trends of Court and ADR Practices" in the series' fourth installment, and he was joined by Judge Gomma. Recently, Professor Singh discussed "Knowing the Culture of Mediation Internationally" with Straus LLM alumni and Brazilian Judges Dorotéia Mota and Fernando Hoffman. The series continues with another webinar by Professor Stipanowich and STJ Minister Ricardo Cueva on July 27; more information may be found at the ADR Brasil page.

ADR Brasil was founded by a group of Straus LLM alumni including Ricardo Barcellos and Eduardo Fontoura, who are passionate about utilizing alternative dispute resolution in their home country. The law firms of Musick Peeler, Faleck Associados, Pinheiro Neto, and L.O. Baptista also partnered to host the series, which was held in Portuguese and English.
