Straus Institute Ranked Number 1 in U.S. News and World Report Best Dispute Resolution Program Rankings

The Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution has been ranked number 1 in the U.S. News & World Report 2023 Best Dispute Resolution Programs rankings. This marks the 14th time in the past 18 years that the Straus Institute has been recognized as the top Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) program in the country.

Professor Sukhsimranjit Singh, who serves as the Judge Danny Weinstein Managing Director of the institute, leads the top-ranked program, which consists of distinguished faculty members with deep expertise in the ADR field, and a dedicated staff of professionals who advance conflict resolution initiatives and support the Institute’s students and alumni around the world.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the institute provided professional trainings to educate individuals on conflict resolution strategies, implemented clinics to allow students to get hands-on learning at managing conflicts for clients, and hosted scholarly events, including the 14th Annual AALS-ADR Works-in-Progress Conference which convenes scholars and  researchers at all levels within the ADR field.

“I feel very blessed to belong to the world-class Straus Institute, particularly in this moment, when our global community is desperately in search of peace, healing, and reconciliation. Our Institute is committed to promoting ideas and research in the ADR field, as well as cultivating the next generation of peacemakers to serve our world.”

In the last year, the Straus Institute has also secured a $450,000 grant from international mediation organization JAMS to educate and engage law enforcement personnel and community members on conflict resolution strategies. The institute also welcomed Judge Danny Weinstein (Ret.) as its Distinguished Mediator in Residence.
