Pepperdine Caruso Law Straus Institute Faculty Join LA Against Hate Initiative

Professor Helen Winter and adjunct professor William Nix have been invited to contribute as experts to an important new initiative combating hate in Los Angeles. Led by professor Sara Campos and Cynthia Campoy, the project is supported by a grant from the National Association for Community Mediation and the JAMS Foundation.

The initiative aims to prevent hate crime violence through a two-year approach. In its first year, Campos and Campoy will conduct listening sessions to gather community insights. In the second year, their findings will guide efforts to implement anti-hate strategies across Los Angeles, with the ultimate goal of developing a model that can be replicated nationwide.

Dr. Winter and Professor Nix bring expertise in dispute resolution, storytelling and community mediation to the project, reinforcing Pepperdine Caruso Law’s commitment to fostering justice and peacebuilding.
