Remote Justice Bus: Students Provide Legal Assistance from Home
The Justice Bus Project brings life-changing legal help to vulnerable populations living in rural and isolated areas of California through free limited scope legal clinics. Instead of a bus trip, OneJustice facilitated a remote clinic on Friday, October 30th. A team of Pepperdine Caruso Law students, supervised by alumnus Aaron White (JD '09), Associate Director of the Center for Estate and Gift Planning for the university, provided free legal assistance to seven clients. The students met over zoom and assisted their clients with completing statutory wills, power of attorney, and advance health care directive forms.
The feedback from clients included the following comments:
"The entire process with OneJustice and Pepperdine Law could not have gone smoother. My family and I truly appreciate everyone's time and information. We most likely would not have completed such important documents without their assistance. Thank you, you are greatly appreciated."
"The entire process was made simple, clear, and concise. I appreciate this entire experience [and] hope more people of color have this opportunity."
