Dr. Thema explores overextending and burnout with Tanya Asim Cooper, a lawyer, clinical professor of law, and helper. Professor Cooper directs a legal clinic for victims of domestic violence and human trafficking at Pepperdine University's Caruso School of Law. She is also a Christian, and her research focuses on training churches to respond to domestic violence. Dr. Thema explores with Professor Cooper indicators of being overcommitted and ways to heal and practical strategies to reclaim yourself.
Longtime collaborators Thema Bryant-Davis, professor of psychology at the Pepperdine Graduate School of Education and Psychology, and Tanya Asim Cooper, clinical professor of law at Caruso Law continue their collaborative research on intimate partner violence (IPV) and opportunities for faith communities to support survivors. Together they train churches to respond more compassionately to IPV. Recently, they submitted a grant to the Templeton Foundation for funding to continue their IPV trainings in local churches.
