Professor Maureen Weston Participates in Annual Sports Law Conference
Professor Maureen Weston recently presented Emerging Legal Issues in Professional Sports at the National Sports Law Institute at Marquette University's Annual Sports Law Conference. Weston discussed the U.S. Supreme Court's recent decision on the legality sports betting, league decisions concerning player discipline, the impact of the #MeToo movement, pending collective bargaining negotiations, and athlete advocacy, speech, and political rights in the pro sports arena.
The conference convened sports lawyers and team industry professionals to examine current legal issues impacting various levels of the sports industry, along with panel discussions from lawyers working in the industry and impacted by these issues day to day.
