Professor Joel Johnson Files Amicus Brief in Supreme Court Case United States v. Hemani

Professor Joel S. Johnson has filed an amicus brief in the Supreme Court case United States v. Hemani. The pending case involves a Second Amendment challenge to 18 U.S.C. ยง 922(g)(3), the federal provision that prohibits firearm possession by anyone who is an "unlawful user" of a controlled substance.  Professor Johnson's brief argues that the Court should avoid the constitutional issue by narrowly construing the statute.
