Professor Jennifer Koh Leads 2024 Communitas Pastoral Leadership Program in Washington, DC
During the week of May 20, professor Jennifer Lee Koh taught and developed programming for a group of pastors from Southern California who are participating in the Communitas program, a pastoral leadership training program run by Pepperdine University's Center for Faith and Learning. The Communitas pastoral leadership program honors early career pastors and supports them in their development as leaders who can guide their congregations toward becoming significant agents for positive change in their communities. The program selects twelve pastors from the greater Los Angeles area who have completed approximately five to fifteen years of full-time ministry and who have demonstrated high potential for significant leadership.
The week of intensive learning took place in Washington, DC and was organized around the theme "Who is My Neighbor? Migration and the Making of America." Professor Koh led a session on immigration law and policy, and organized a panel with faith-based immigration advocates in the Washington, DC area that included Sandy Ovalle from Sojourners; Galen Carey from the National Association of Evangelicals; and Dr. Kate Sugarman, a physician and immigration advocate.
