Professor Jack Coe Presents at ISDS Reform Conference

Recently, Professor Jack Coe visited Hong Kong where he participated in a conference organized by the Hong Kong government to explore reforms to the current system of investor-state dispute resolution. His remarks proposed that mediation and arbitration should run concurrently, 'shadowing' each other and that various means should be used to encourage mediation, not as a substitute for arbitration but as a complement to it. Arbitration is at present is the dominant mode of dispute resolution for direct investment disputes.
