Professor Helen Winter Recognized for Advancing Global Mediation Effort by Ukrainian Academy of Mediation
Professor Helen Winter has been awarded the Global Mediation Synergy Award by the Ukrainian Academy of Mediation. Presented by Luiza Romanadze, president of the Ukrainian Academy of Mediation, the award recognizes Professor Winter’s efforts to unify mediation practices across borders and advance peacebuilding in Ukraine and globally. Last year, the Edwards Mediation Academy, in collaboration with the Ukrainian Mediation Center and the European Union CONSENT Project, Edwards Mediation Academy has specifically engaged Helen Winter to provide insights and training to Ukrainian mediators and lawyers regarding mediation practices, with a particular focus on addressing bias in conflict resolution.
Professor Winter is renowned for her pioneering work on bias reduction strategies and peer-to-peer mediation. Her initiative, R3SOLUTE, empowers refugees and locals in Germany to resolve community conflicts collaboratively. She also serves as a board member for a €1 million EU-funded project at The Hague University of Applied Sciences (THUAS). This initiative incorporates her psychosocial peer mediation model to train 500 students and 200 faculty members, expanding the reach of mediation in higher education and beyond.
