Professor Helen Winter Presents "Community for Community: Empowering Change Through Student-Led Conflict Resolution Workshops” -- UC Law San Francisco

Professor Helen Winter presented her latest scholarly project titled  "Community for Community: Empowering Change Through Student-Led Conflict Resolution Workshops” at a recent Works in Progress Conference hosted by UC College of Law at San Francisco.

Winter shared insights from an innovative model that connects law and dispute resolution students with local communities through trauma-informed, culturally responsive conflict resolution training. Building on her pioneering work with R3SOLUTE and Pepperdine’s Community Conflict Resolution Lab, the project demonstrates how academic institutions can partner with community organizations to equip residents, especially those in marginalized or high-conflict settings, with practical mediation and communication tools.

The presentation highlighted how these workshops empower both students and participants by fostering mutual learning, empathy, and sustainable problem-solving capacities.
