Professor Helen Winter Presents "Peer Mediation Among Refugee Communities" -- Association for Conflict Resolution, Greater New York Annual Conference

Professor Helen Winter presented "Peer Mediation Among Refugee Communities" at the Association for Conflict Resolution, Greater New York’s Virtual Annual Conference on June 2. The presentation explored the link between peer mediation and self-efficacy within refugee populations. Professor Winter’s charitable organization R3SOLUTE has successfully implemented peer mediation mechanisms in refugee shelters in Germany for the past five years.

In her research, Professor Winter has examined and outlined the link between peer mediation and self-efficacy of marginalized communities, such as refugees. In her presentation, she addressed the challenges and best practices of R3SOLUTE’s peer mediation program within refugee communities in Germany, as well as the need for systemic change and policies encouraging agency within refugee populations through ADR.
