Professor Ed Larson Presents "The Meaning of 1776" -- Yale Law School

Professor Edward J. Larson presented "The Meaning of 1776" for Yale Law School's annual Michael A. Doyle and Bunny Winter Distinguished Visiting Professor of Law Lecture on November 10. Professor Larson's book, Declaring Independence, Why 1776 Matters, was recently published by W. W. Norton & Company.

Edward J. Larson is a Doyle-Winter Distinguished Visiting Professor of Law at Yale Law School. He visits Yale Law School from Pepperdine University, where he sits as the Hugh and Hazel Darling Chair in Law and University Professor of History. Larson is the author of 13 books and numerous scholarly papers that span the subjects of law, science, and religion. Larson won the Pulitzer Prize in 1997 for his book "Summer for the Gods," which covers the Scopes trial and America's continuous debate over science and religion. His most recent publication looks at the relationship between Ben Franklin and George Washington.
