Professor Brittany Stringfellow Otey presented "Teaching About Homelessness" for the Poverty Law Conference held at USC Gould School of Law on February 21. The conference gathered scholars, educators, and advocates focused on poverty, inequality, and access to justice.
In response to the conference theme, “Scholarship, Pedagogy, and Community in a Time of Attacks on the Vulnerable," Professor Stringfellow Otey joined colleagues, Ron Hochbaum of the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law, Sara Rankin of Seattle University School of Law, and Julie Gilgoff of DePaul University College of Law, on a panel discussing a variety of pedagogical tools available to increase student engagement in the area of homelessness.
Professor Stringfellow Otey shared about the work of Pepperdine Legal Aid Clinic and opportunities to incorporate teaching about homelessness into a variety of educational contexts.
