Wendy McGuire Coats (JD '05) Named President Elect of Contra Costa County Bar Association Board of Directors
February 28, 2018 | Pepperdine Law alumna Wendy McGuire Coats (JD '05) has been selected as President Elect of the Contra Costa County Bar Association (CCCBA) Board of Directors. Coats currently leads the California Appellate Practice at Fisher Phillips LLP, and she is located in the firm's San Francisco office. Coats recently spoke at the Pepperdine Law Trial Lawyers Conference and participated on the panel, "Empowering Aspiring Female Trial Lawyers: Unique Challenges and the Way Forward."

Fisher Phillips, a national labor and employment law firm representing employers, announces that Partner and Appellate Counsel Wendy McGuire Coats has been selected as President Elect of the Contra Costa County Bar Association (CCCBA) Board of Directors. The 2018 Board was recognized and installed at a luncheon held on Jan. 26.
Coats is a partner in the firm's San Francisco office, where she leads the California Appellate Practice. Representing clients in all aspects of appellate litigation in state and federal appellate courts, she advises trial counsel in appellate strategy before, during, and after trial. Coats is a certified specialist in Appellate Law by the California Board of Legal Specialization, a distinction held by fewer than 400 California attorneys.
Active in the legal community, Coats is a regular contributor to the ABA's Council of Appellate Lawyer's publication, Appellate Issues, and the California Women Lawyers amicus committee's appellate briefing and recommendations. She also serves on the board of Women Chefs & Restaurateurs, where she launched their monthly "Legal Bites" column, addressing labor and employment issues facing the food and beverage industry.
Coats received her J.D., magna cum laude, from the Pepperdine University School of Law (2005), where she was Editor-in-Chief of the Pepperdine Law Review, and her B.S. Ed., magna cum laude, from the University of Missouri – Columbia (1996).
Established in 1934, the CCCBA offers support to the legal community and the judicial system, serving thousands of legal professionals and members of the community each year.
