Pepperdine's Straus Institute Faculty Well-Represented at the ABA Section on Dispute Resolution Conference in San Francisco

Professor Tom Stipanowich moderated two panels on the different forms of interplay between mediation and arbitration; Straus alumna Professor Veronique Fraser appeared on one of these panels to discuss the impact of culture and legal traditions on parties' expectations regarding process goals--a topic about which she and Professor Stipanowich are currently writing in conjunction with the work of the International Task Force on Mixed Mode Dispute Resolution.

Professor Sukhsimranjit Singh represented Straus Institute on different panels at the ABA conference. He led a panel of three on the evolving cross-cultural classroom-how to effectively teach and work across cultures and additionally, shared his intra-faith expertise on a panel comprised of distinguished mediators from several countries to discuss the newly released - Stories Mediators Tell: Worldwide Edition (ABA, 2017). Professor Singh had authored a chapter in the book.

Professor Maureen Weston presented "Gorsuch on Arbitration" at the Arbitration Law Update panel.

We were pleased to reconnect with several Straus alumni who are working in the ADR field join us at the conference. Tess Marme was on site to promote LLM, MDR, and Certificate programs.
