Pepperdine Law Deans and Faculty Celebrate Founder's Day 2018

September 20, 2018 | Dean Paul Caron, Associate Dean Jim Gash, and members of the faculty represented Pepperdine Law at Pepperdine University's annual Founder's Day ceremony, which was held on campus on September 19.  Members of Pepperdine Law's Board of Advisors were also in attendance. Founder's Day commemorates George Pepperdine's founding of the college, which he dedicated on September 21, 1937, with the belief that "Education should include the right outlook on life, a realization of our responsibility to society, our country, and to God... that young people be taught that their place in this world is to serve and to give." During the ceremony, Pepperdine Law alumnus and Board of Regents member Terry M. Giles (JD '74) presented George Pepperdine's 1937 dedicatory address. University President Andrew K. Benton, who will conclude his presidency at the end of the 2018-2019 academic year, delivered his final Founder's Day address, in which he implored all "to contend for the ideal of civilization - for goodness and oughtness and rightness, for all that is honorable among humankind - to the best of your ability."
