Pepperdine Caruso Law Welcomes Judge Lauren Lofton (JD '07) for Dean's Speaker Series

On February 25, Pepperdine Caruso Law welcomed alumna and Los Angeles County Superior Court judge Lauren Lofton (JD '07) for the Dean's Speaker Series. In conversation with dean Paul Caron, Judge Lofton encouraged law students to gain experience in the courtroom. As a Caruso Law student she participated on the trial team, which she explained helped her to understand evidence and how the legal process works.

Judge Lofton advised students to stay focused on their goals and to work hard. She said that as a judge, she can tell when attorneys have put hard work into writing their briefs. 

As an alumna, Judge Lofton said her favorite part is returning to Caruso Law to administer the attorney oath to graduates who have passed the California Bar Exam because she can "feel the energy of people excited about the future."

When asked about her favorite part about being a judge, she replied "helping people to reach a resolution and move forward in their lives."
