Pepperdine Caruso Law Welcomes the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple for 2026 Moot Court Competition

Barristers-in-training from the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple in London traveled to Pepperdine Caruso Law to compete against members of the Pepperdine Moot Court Team on September 10. Middle Temple is one of England’s four historic Inns of Court, professional and educational societies that play a central role in the training and development of British barristers. Christa Richmond, Middle Temple director of education, led the visiting delegation from London. 

Hosted in connection with the Middle Temple Moot Court Competition, distinguished English barrister Andrew Hochhauser KC, Bencher of Middle Temple and Deputy High Court Judge, spoke on courtroom advocacy during a lunchtime presentation on September 8. Drawing on his extensive experience as a leading King's Counsel and vice-chairman of the Inns of Court College of Advocacy, Hochhauser offered practical tips on cross-examination, persuasive argument, and trial strategy. 

During the competition, Caruso Law students Caleb Washington and Carter Fortman participated with Middle Temple finalists Angelina Freeman, Lucy Shinn, Carmen Walsh, and Benjamin Savill. Barrister Hochhauser, and Caruso Law professors Colleen Graffy and Stephen White served as competition judges.
