Pepperdine Caruso Law Students Serve Legal Aid Clinics as 2025 Summer Clerks

This summer, Pepperdine Caruso Law students have been working in the Legal Aid Clinic and Low Income Taxpayer Clinic. The Caruso Law summer clerks in the Legal Aid Clinic and Low Income Taxpayer Clinic serve the guests of Union Rescue Mission in downtown Los Angeles, as well as others referred by agencies throughout the county.

The clinics combined on June 10, 2025 to host a pop-up clinic at Angeles House, a transitional living residence in South Los Angeles. The Caruso Law clerks offered legal assistance on a variety of topics, including post-conviction reentry, tickets and warrants, family law, consumer issues, and federal income tax controversies.

Professor Brittany Stringfellow Otey directs the Legal Aid Clinic at the Union Rescue Mission and Covenant House, and is the acting director of clinical education at Caruso Law. Adjunct professor Isai Cortez directs the Low Income Taxpayer Clinic, located at the Union Rescue Mission.

The 2025 summer clerks include Gina Catania, Dan Ben-Tal-Mangum, Shepard Peng, Michael Moss, Alexander Galstjan, Ashley Anderson, and LeeAnna Knopes. The clinics are supported by clinic coordinator, Edith Salomon.
