Pepperdine Caruso Law Students Participate in Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot in Vienna
This spring, Pepperdine Caruso Law students Tatiana Valente, Charlotte Henderson, and Micah Rabin competed at the prestigious Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot in Vienna, Austria.
The Vis Moot, one of the most prominent moot court competitions in the world, brings together nearly 400 teams from over 80 countries each year. The competition challenges law students to brief and argue complex issues in international commercial arbitration before panels of seasoned arbitrators and practitioners. Preparing for the competition requires several months of research, writing, and oral advocacy training.
The Caruso Law students took the initiative to participate in the competition and worked diligently to prepare their arguments. They arranged practice sessions with other law schools and arbitration professionals and independently coordinated travel and logistics to make their participation possible.
Professor Maureen Weston played an integral role in helping bring this opportunity to fruition, offering essential guidance and support throughout the process. Professors Colleen Graffy and Trey Childress also provided valuable assistance during on-campus preparation. In addition, professor Jack Coe supported the team in Vienna, where he accompanied the students and offered mentorship as they presented their arguments in the competition.
Pepperdine Caruso Law congratulates Valente, Henderson, and Rabin for representing Caruso Law on an international platform, illustrating Caruso Law's growing engagement in international dispute resolution and arbitration.
