Pepperdine Caruso Law Graduates Celebrate Summer 2025 California Bar Swearing-In Ceremony

On Friday, June 13, the biannual tradition of the California Bar Swearing-In Ceremony was held at Pepperdine Caruso School of Law. Caruso Law graduates who recently passed the California Bar Exam came together with their family and friends to celebrate the milestone accomplishment.

The summer ceremony opened with remarks by Bob Pettit, Caruso Law's director of alumni engagement. Pettit welcomed the graduates to the alumni community and commended them for their well-earned success. 

Arnold Barba, associate dean of professional formation, spoke to the graduates addressing them as "counselors." Barba inspired the new counselors at law by saying that as they rise to their calling, to carry forward the values that shaped them at Caruso Law: courage in adversity, excellence in their work, and integrity in all things. He assured the counselors to let the ceremony remind them of how far they've come—and of the purpose that brought them to Caruso Law in the first place.

Caruso Law alumna, judge Lauren Lofton (JD '07) of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, then shared words of advice and encouragement before administering the California state oath.
