Pepperdine Caruso Law Congratulates Michael Briggs

Pepperdine Caruso Law is proud to congratulate its recent bell-ringer in recognition of post-graduate employment success, Michael Briggs! Michael was celebrated for his achievements by Assistant Dean of the Career Development Office Laine Kontos, directors and members of the Career Development and Administrative Offices, the Deans' Suite, and Michael's close friends and law school classmates.

Michael will be joining the Office of the Bronx County District Attorney as an Assistant District Attorney in the fall of 2022. Michael became interested in the Bronx County District Attorney Office after learning about its holistic approach to criminal justice through conscientious prosecution and community partnership and outreach. He is excited to become part of their application of restorative justice to the criminal justice system.

Michael became interested in prosecutions after volunteering with Neighborhood Legal Services of Los Angeles in its Domestic Abuse Self-Help Clinic at the Van Nuys Courthouse between his sophomore and junior years of his undergraduate career. While rewarding, he felt like he was not doing all he could for survivors and became interested in the possibility of becoming a prosecutor.

Michael graduated from USC with a B.A. in Political Science. From there, he worked for three years as an administrative and legal assistant at Stone, Grzegorek & Gonzalez, LLP, an immigration law firm. After gaining that experience, he decided to commit to his interest in prosecution and came to Pepperdine Caruso School of Law.

While at Pepperdine,  Michael spent his 1L summer as a judicial extern with Justice Mike Chibita of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Uganda. In the spring semester of his 2L year, served as a law clerk extern within the Family Violence Division of the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, and then during the summer, he served as a certified law clerk in their Preliminary Hearing Unit. All of these experiences led Michael to his post-graduate position.

Michael is thankful for the support of his fiancee Anne Felicitas, his family, Alexis Joyce of the Career Development Office, Professors Brent Nibecker and Angela Powell, as well as his friends, including Riley Garrison, Thurgood Wynn, Gabriel Arredondo, Cooper McHatton, Levik Khodaverdy, Marielle Sider, Niloofar Farzaneh, Karla Young, and Jared Antman.

Congratulations to Michael!
