Pepperdine Caruso Law Celebrates the Class of 2023
Pepperdine Caruso Law celebrated the class of 2023 with several ceremonies to recognize the graduates' many achievements.
The festivities began on May 16 with Caruso Law’s inaugural Diversity Graduation Celebration at the Pepperdine Beach House. This special event recognized graduating students from all programs, especially those who are historically underrepresented in the legal profession.
On May 17, the Palmer Center for Entrepreneurship and the Law honored graduating JD students in the Lon V. Smith Atrium. Students who earned the Palmer Center certificate and the 2022-2023 Palmer Fellows student board joined in the celebration. The evening was led with remarks from dean Paul Caron, followed by a presentation of the certificates.
The following morning on May 18, graduating JD students gathered in the atrium for
the annual 3L Breakfast. Graduates were recognized for their academic and advocacy
accomplishments, as well as for their resilience in completing their first year of
law studies remotely. In addition, Caruso Law alumna and alumni relations director
Jessie Fahy (JD ‘11) was honored as the Young Distinguished Alumnus. Fahy, who will
be leaving Caruso Law after a 9-year career, says, “I am excited to cheer the law
school on from the sidelines in the next season - I’ll be in the front row clapping
and cheering every step of the way!"
In the afternoon of May 18, a Graduate Law Programs reception was held to honor the graduates of the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution and the online degree programs. These students earned Master of Laws, Master of Dispute Resolution, or Master of Legal Studies degrees, or certificates in Dispute Resolution. The reception included remarks by assistant dean Sukhsimranjit Singh.
The evening of May 18 concluded with the fifth annual Baccalaureate Service held at
Stauffer Chapel on the main campus. Graduates from all programs were invited to attend
the traditional Christian worship service of readings and songs. At the service each
graduate was presented with a Bible signed by Dean Caron.
Pepperdine Caruso Law is proud to congratulate the class of 2023 and to welcome them into the alumni community.
