Pepperdine Caruso Law Celebrates the Class of 2022

Pepperdine Caruso Law sent off the class of 2022 with several ceremonies to celebrate their achievements.

On May 18, the Palmer Center for Entrepreneurship and Law awarded graduating JD students in the Lon V. Smith Atrium. Students who earned the Palmer Center certificate and the 2021-2022 Fellow Student Board were invited to celebrate. The evening was led with remarks from Dean Paul Caron and an invocation from Professor Jeff Baker, followed by hors d’oeuvres and the presentation of the certificates.

The following morning of May 19, graduating JD students gathered in the atrium for the annual Caruso Law 3L Celebration Breakfast. Graduates were recognized for their academic and advocacy accomplishments, and enjoyed a catered breakfast.

At the 3L Celebration Breakfast, Caruso Law alumnus Robert Simon (JD ‘05), founder of the Simon Law Group and Justice HQ, was honored as Young Distinguished Alumnus of the Year for 2022. Simon offered a piece of advice to the graduating class, “Bet on yourselves. There’s no better time with your age and knowledge of technology… you can practice anywhere that you want, have a quality of life and still pursue your passions and actually make money and change the world.”

In the afternoon of May 19, the Graduate Law Reception commenced to honor the graduates of the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution and online programs. These graduates completed the LLM in Dispute Resolution, Master of Dispute Resolution, Master of Legal Studies, or a certificate in Dispute Resolution, during the 2021-2022 academic year.

The day was brought to a close with the fourth annual Baccalaureate service at Stauffer Chapel. The ceremony opened with Caruso Law alumna Asha Madhukar (JD ‘19), who sang “10,000 Reasons.” Graduates were celebrated through a traditional Christian worship service and gifted with Bibles signed by Dean Paul Caron.
