Michael Wood (JD '13/MDR '11) Joins Arnold and Porter
Pepperdine Caruso Law alumnus Michael C. Wood (JD '13/MDR '11) has joined Arnold & Porter in the Life Sciences and Healthcare Regulatory group. In 2021, Wood transitioned from VSP Global / Vision Service Plan where he served as primary in-house legal counsel for the VSP Optical Group and its subsidiaries to private practice with the Life Sciences & Healthcare Regulatory group at Arnold & Porter. At VSP Global, Michael worked very closely with Caruso Law alumnus Thomas A. Fessler (JD '83), chief legal officer and general counsel of VSP Global.
Based primarily in Sacramento, Wood counsels clients nationwide on a wide range of healthcare and fraud and abuse-related regulatory, compliance, transactional, and legislative/policy matters. Previously, he was an associate with the White Collar, Investigations, and Compliance team at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe in Sacramento. Wood completed a judicial clerkship with then-Chief Judge Morrison C. England at the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District Court of California. A native of Sacramento, Wood is a graduate of Georgetown University and Pepperdine Caruso School of Law and Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution.
