Michael Baker (JD '85) Honored with Wiley W. Manuel Certificate for Pro Bono Legal Services

Pepperdine Caruso Law alumnus Michael J. Baker (JD '85) has been nominated by the Public Law Center to receive the State Bar of California's Wiley W. Manuel Certificate for Pro Bono Legal Services. Baker is a partner at Snell & Wilmer in the firm's Orange County and Los Angeles offices.

Created by the State Bar in 1989, and named for Justice Wiley W. Manuel who dedicated his career to serving the public, this award recognizes the contributions of those in the legal community who volunteer their time and expertise to provide legal assistance to Orange County's low income residents. Each recipient is commended for his or her dedication, generosity and commitment to pro bono legal services, demonstrated by volunteering over 50 hours with the Public Law Center in 2020.

Baker focuses his practice on the representation of design professionals, engineers, general contractors and public and private owners. His experience includes providing representation for business and contractual matters as well as disputes before arbitration panels, mediators and trial courts. He has also acted in the capacity of mediator, arbitrator, and served on project dispute resolution boards on selected building programs and projects.
