Matthew J. Sharbaugh (JD '08) Sworn in as United States Magistrate Judge, United States District Court for the District of Columbia

Pepperdine Caruso Law alumnus Matthew J. Sharbaugh (JD '08) has been sworn in as a United States Magistrate Judge on the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. He was sworn in by Chief Judge James E. Boasberg to serve an eight-year term on the Court, where he will preside over civil and criminal matters.

From the United States District Court for the District of Columbia:

Until recently, Mr. Sharbaugh was a partner at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, with a practice that focused on employment and other complex civil litigation, as well as substantial pro bono work. Mr. Sharbaugh began his legal career as an associate at Littler Mendelson, P.C. in Los Angeles, California. He then served twice as a law clerk to the Honorable Robert L. Wilkins, first during Judge Wilkins’ tenure on this Court and again following Judge Wilkins’ appointment to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. Mr. Sharbaugh received a Bachelor of Music degree, summa cum laude, from Berklee College of Music in 2004, and received his J.D., summa cum laude, from Pepperdine University School of Law in 2008.

Magistrate Judge Sharbaugh fills the vacancy occasioned by the recent appointment of former Magistrate Judge Robin M. Meriweather to the U.S. Court of Federal Claims. He was selected by the Court following a comprehensive selection process.
