Mary Jo Johnson Presented the David McKibbin Excellence in Teaching Award 2022

Pepperdine Caruso Law adjunct professor Mary Jo Johnson was presented the 2022 David McKibbin Excellence in Teaching Award by Dean Paul Caron. The award is given each year to a Caruso Law adjunct faculty member who exemplifies excellence in teaching and devotion to students. The award is named after one of Caruso Law's former full-time tax professors, David McKibbin, who was beloved by students.

Johnson has taught Corporate and Government Investigations at Caruso Law since 2018. She previously was a litigation partner at WilmerHale, an international law firm, where she practiced law for 28 years. Much of Johnson’s practice involved conducting internal investigations for corporations on a broad range of issues, and counseling boards of directors on crisis management corporate governance, and regulatory compliance.  Johnson also has vast experience in responding to and defending investigations by federal and state government entities.  She was recognized as a “New England Super Lawyer“ in securities litigation for over a decade. 

Throughout her career, Johnson has led numerous pro bono and women’s leadership initiatives. She currently serves as vice chair of the board of Friends of the Children Los Angeles.  She received her JD  from Boston College Law School.
