"Making It Real:" Matthew Bogosian (JD '96) to speak to students about "realities of practice"
Wednesday, November 12, 2015 -- During a point in the year when students are coping with an especially intense workload and it can be challenging to maintain perspective, the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution has invited Pepperdine JD and Straus Certificate alumnus Matthew Bogosian (JD '96) to campus on November 18 to bring the practice of law to life. During his lunchtime presentation, he will speak on the "realities" of practice, especially the value of negotiation and dispute resolution skills.
Matthew Bogosian is Certified as a Family Law Specialist by the State Bar of California, Board of Legal Specialization. His legal practice focuses on divorce, legal separation, nullity, child custody and visitation, child and spousal support, domestic violence restraining orders, mediation of family law issues and the drafting and contesting of premarital, marital and marital settlement agreements. Mr. Bogosian graduated Magna Cum Laude with Departmental Honors and a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics from the University of California at Los Angeles and earned a Juris Doctor and Certificate in Dispute Resolution from Pepperdine University School of Law in Malibu, California. Mr. Bogosian won the American Jurisprudence Award in Negotiation and Settlement Advocacy, was selected by SuperLawyers for excellence in legal practice and has appeared before both the Second and Fifth District Courts of Appeal in California. Before establishing his office in Calabasas, California, Mr. Bogosian practiced at Morrison & Foerster in Los Angeles and Nordman, Cormany, Hair & Compton in Ventura County. Mr. Bogosian is a member of the Family Law Section of the State Bar of California, serves as an Adjunct Professor of Dispute Resolution at the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution and is a court-appointed mediator for the Ventura County Superior Court.
