LLM Alumni Introduce Straus Students to the Federal Bar Association
Straus Institute alumni and classmates Angela Eastman (LLM '08) and Gabriel Soto (LLM '08) spoke with students on Monday, February 22 on their career paths since graduation and their involvement with the Federal Bar Association's ADR Section. Ms. Eastman is a regulatory compliance consultant primarily focused on health law and market regulations matters and Mr. Soto has a background in federal practice and serves as a Judge Advocate (JAG) for the U.S. Navy.
The speakers encouraged students to take advantage of student leadership opportunities while at Pepperdine, including joining the Federal Bar Association's student division. Ms. Eastman and Mr. Soto were joined by their colleague Mr. Bryan Branon, who chairs the ADR Section. Mr. Branon shared opportunities for students to write in the FBA's magazine and get involved with professional networking events, albeit virtually. He shared his experience getting to know and work with judges and writing articles for publication in conjunction with his involvement in the FBA.
Students had the opportunity to ask the panelists questions about their career trajectories and Professor Sarah Park, who joined the program, and Straus associate director Aparna Gupta, who moderated the conversation, were both eager to support students in writing blogs and short articles.
