Landon Derentz (JD '12) Leads Atlantic Council Global Energy Forum 2025 in Washington, DC

Pepperdine Caruso Law alumnus Landon Derentz (JD '12) led the Atlantic Council Global Energy Forum 2025, which took place on June 17-18 in Washington, DC.  The forum, titled “A New Paradigm for Energy Leadership: Collaboration, Competition, and Security,” convened more than 1,500 in-person attendees, 120 speakers, and delegations from 97 countries across 30 public sessions and 23 private roundtable discussions. After presenting the forum in the Middle East for eight years, the forum was held in Washington, DC this year, ushering in a new era for energy dialogue.

Derentz moderated two discussions at the forum: "Thinking big and building bigger: Financing energy and infrastructure in the technology age," with global leaders from OpenAI, Engine No. 1, Crusoe, and 2PointZero, which explored the intersection of AI, capital, and the energy systems required to sustain exponential growth; and "A Leadership Spotlight conversation with Josu Jon Imaz, CEO of Repsol," on the evolving U.S. and EU investment climate, infrastructure gaps, and how transatlantic energy leadership must adapt to meet rising demand and security challenges—including the strategic role of Alaska’s resources.

Derentz serves as the vice president for energy and infrastructure at the Atlantic Council.
