Hezy Shaked and Janet Kerr: Retail Entrepreneur Success Story | October 5
Please join the Palmer Center for Entrepreneurship & the Law for a lunch hour presentation, "Hezy Shaked & Janet Kerr: Retail Entrepreneur Success Story," on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 from 12:30-1:30pm in Mendenhall Appellate Courtroom.
Hezy Shaked co-founded the Tilly's concept in 1982 and formed the company in 1984. He currently serves as the Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Strategy Officer. As Co-Founder and former President and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Shaked has an in-depth knowledge and understanding of all facets of the business and has developed extensive professional relationships during his over 30 years of experience in the retail industry. He will describe his experiences as an entrepreneur from starting a company to having it publicly listed.
Janet Kerr ('75, JD '78), Caruso School of Law Professor Emeritus and Vice Chancellor, Pepperdine University. At Pepperdine, Janet founded and was the first Executive Director of the Palmer Center for Entrepreneurship & the Law, the first professor to hold the Laure Sudreau-Rippe Endowed Chair, and served as Associate Dean of the Law School. She has extensive experience on public boards in the areas of retail, technology, food industry and the financial sector; currently sitting on three public boards. Having developed and sold several successful technology companies, the most recent of which was sold in data analytics to Bloomberg BNA, Janet provides expertise in tech innovation, cybersecurity, corporate governance, digital disruption, risk management and oversight and strategy. Janet also has earned the CERT Certificate in Cybersecurity Oversight from Carnegie Mellon and is currently enrolled in the University of Cambridge program in Disruptive Technologies. Janet has received numerous recognitions for excellence in board corporate governance.
