Film Screening of "Women. Life. Freedom. Athlete Abuse" Documentary
On February 26, the Iranian Law Student Association, along with the Pepperdine Caruso Law Entertainment, Media, & Sports Law Project, hosted an exclusive screening of the documentary short film, "Women. Life. Freedom. Athlete Abuse." The screening was followed by a panel discussion led by journalist and filmmaker Poppy Farsjani (MBA ’10), with Loyola Law adjunct professor and Caruso Law alumnus Faraz Shahlaei (LLM '17), and Iranian Olympic athletes Kasra Mehdipournejad, the recipient of the Paris 2024 Scholarship who is competing for the 2024 IOC Refugee Team, and Zohreh Abdollahkhani, the first female ice-climbing medalist in the Asian Championships.
Special guests at the screening included Director of Global Initiatives for Human Rights Watch, Minky Worden; member of the International Olympic Committee, Samira Asghari; and Sean Claffey, the director of upcoming 90-minute feature documentary, "Breaking Chains: The Women. Life. Freedom. Movement." Professor Maureen Weston organized the event and facilitated the discussion.
