Benjamin Gifford (JD '11) Remembers Fallen Brother -- NBC News
September 12, 2018 | Pepperdine Law alumnus and Director of Development Benjamin P. Gifford (JD '11, USMC ret.), was featured on the NBC News broadcast story, "9/11 Malibu Memorial Carries Extra Meaning for One University Employee." Walking among the nearly 3,000 flags placed in Pepperdine's Alumni Park to commemorate the lives lost in the terror attacks of September 11, 2001, Ben remembers his brother, Micah Stephen Gifford, who enlisted in the United States Army in response to the events. Ben was serving in Iraq in the United States Marine Corps at the time of the attacks. Tragically, Micah lost his life while fighting in Iraq one year after enlisting.
Ben pays tribute to his brother by saying, "I think guys like my brother emulate exactly what is best about America, and I am proud of him."
Pepperdine joins the nation in profound gratitude for the service of soldiers such as Ben and Micah Gifford.
